City of DuQuoin lifts boil order

DUQUOIN, IL (KFVS) - The city of DuQuoin says the boil order has been lifted for the following locations:

Starting at 639 West Main Street going west on State Route 152. The city says the boil order has also been lifted for anyone with DuQuoin Water Service, including Butternut Road.

The boil order has also been lifted for Kathleen Mine Road from Rod Gun Club Road to State Route 152. They say it has also been lifted for anyone with the DuQuoin Water Service, including all subdivisions off Kathleen Mine Road.

DUQUOIN, IL (KFVS) - The city of DuQuoin says as of Tuesday, Oct. 25 they will continue flushing fire hydrants.

The city says the flushing is expected to be finished in about three weeks. The only area left to flush within city limits is the Southeast quadrant.

After flushing hydrants in the city limits, the city says South Washington Street all the way to the county line (Beech Road) will also be flushed.

According to the city, residents may notice a difference in water color. They recommend that residents not wash white clothes when flushing is being done in their quadrant.

The former Old DuQuoin Water District is excluded.

DUQUOIN, IL (KFVS) - The city of DuQuoin says they will be flushing fire hydrants starting the week of September 27.

According to the city, the flushing will be finished with about three weeks. They will start in the northwest quadrant, then the southwest, northeast and then the southeast.

After flushing hydrants within the city limits, the city says South Washington Street all the way to the county line at Beech Road will also be flushed.

DUQUOIN, IL (KFVS) - A new mobile application can help fairgoers to the DuQuoin State Fair.

The Enjoy Illinois mobile app is the state's official mobile travel and lifestyle guide for travelers across Illinois.

It allows access to more than 10,000 statewide listings including accomodations, dining, attractions, events, deals, and more.

Features of the Enjoy Illinois app include:

  • Near Me navigation: Utilizes location-based/GPS searches to view attractions nearby and filter listings by interest.
  • Browse by Interest:  Organizes the listings by category so users can view attractions based on interests, such as Accommodations, Arts & Culture, Attractions, Dining and Nightlife.
  • Browse by Region:  Enables exploration of listings by region.
  • My Trips feature:  Allows user to create a custom itinerary list to share via social media (Twitter, Facebook) or by email.

ATA Steam, Gas Power show

PINCKNEYVILLE, IL (KFVS) - The 50th annual Steam, Gas and Threshing Show will be August 17 through 21 at the Perry County Fairgrounds.

The show will start Wednesday night and will continue everyday through Sunday starting at 9 a.m.

Admission is $7 each and children under 12 are free. Parking is also free.

Some daily attractions include: steam and tractor powered plowing, wheat threshing, animal teams and saw milling. There will be an antique auto show and swap meet on Sunday.

Ribbon cutting at Ill. Rural Heritage Museum

PINCKNEYVILLE, IL (KFVS) - A ribbon cutting ceremony will be held at the Illinois Rural Heritage Museum for The Signature Red Barn on Tuesday, August 16 at 6 p.m.

The ceremony will be at the museum located at 187 Fairground Road in Pinckneyville, Ill.

The barn will be open from August 18 to 21 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. for visitors to see interior of the barn and some pieces of the past.

Grandstand lineup for 89th Annual Du Quoin State Fair

DUQUOIN, IL (KFVS) - Fair manager John Rednour, Jr. announced Monday the lineup for the Du Quoin State Fair.

The fair will be from August 26 to Labor Day on September 5.

The lineup includes:

  • Friday, August 26 - Harness racing at 7 p.m.
  • Saturday, August 27 - Harness racing at 12 p.m., Josh Turner featured at 7:30 p.m.
