Du Quoin mayor hospitalized for heart problems

DU QUOIN, IL (KFVS) - Du Quoin Mayor John Rednour has been hospitalized due to a heart condition.

According to Finance Commissioner Rex Duncan, the 77-year-old mayor attended the Civil War re-enactment event on Saturday and seemed fine. Later that evening, Duncan says the mayor went to Marshal Browning Hospital in Du Quoin for problems with his heart. Rednour was later transferred to Memorial Hospital in Carbondale.

Duncan says Rednour has heart problems that he treats with medication, but feels this episode will not keep the mayor from getting back on his feet soon.

Rednour is scheduled to have a pacemaker implanted Wednesday. Duncan says he talked to Rednour Monday and he sounded good and strong. Duncan said he feels it's rare that Rednour is down or sick, but also feels that he is a strong person and will be back in office soon.
