Heroin Awareness Forum at Du Quoin High School Nov. 2

DU QUOIN, IL (KFVS) - The United States Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Illinois and the Perry County Sheriff's Department will hold a Heroin Awareness Forum at Du Quoin High School on November 2.

The forum will be at 1:45 p.m. and panel members will include:

  • Stephen R. Wigginton - U.S. Attorney Southern District of Illinois
  • Mike Shah - Drug Enforcement Administration Analyst
  • Gary Kelly - Superintendent
  • Matt Hickem - Principal
  • Keith Kellerman - Sheriff
  • Mike Ward - Police Chief
  • David Stanton - States Attorney
  • Paul Searby - Coroner
  • John Rednour - Mayor

Organizers say the audience will hear powerful stories from two mothers who lost their child to a heroin overdose. In addition, the audience will see the personal cost and the impact to the community by the explosion in heroin availability and use.

A question and answer period will follow the presentation.

The high school is located at 500 East South Street.
