DU QUOIN, IL (AP)- This weekend's rains from Hurricane Isaac has led officials to postpone the 60th Federated-Southern
Illinois 100 stock car race until Sunday, October 14.
Race officials confirmed Monday the race would be postponed.
Jay Hardin of Track Enterprises says the race track is unsuitable for competition. And, the infield and pit area were left unmanageable by the torrential downpours, and then a lack of sun and wind to dry the area.
Hardin says this marks the first time in history that a stock car
race at DuQuoin has been postponed due to weather and the first time in the 64
year history of the "Magic Mile" that an entire auto racing weekend
was lost due to weather.
Sunday's Ted
Horn 100 was rained out as well.
