Prescription Drug Disposal Day April 27

PINCKNEYVILLE, IL (KFVS) - A Prescription Drug Disposal Day will be Saturday, April 27 in Pinckneyville.

You can bring all of your unused and expired medications, including over-the-counter medication, to the City Hall for safe disposal between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

The City Hall parking lot is located at 104 South Walnut Street.

Car Craft Street Machine Nationals returning to DuQuoin

DUQUOIN, IL (KFVS) - The Car Craft Street Machine Nationals will return to the DuQuoin State Fairgrounds June 28-30, 2013.

Organizers say the Street Machine Nationals called the DuQuoin State Fairgrounds home for 13 years, ending its run in 1998. This event was legendary for its hardcore horsepower, cool classics and plenty of big block engines. This national celebration of horsepower and dream machines will showcase the same as the grounds will swell with beautiful, high-performance street machines, hot rods and street trucks from across the nation.

11th Annual Family Fun Day April 20 in Pinckneyville

PINCKNEYVILLE, IL (KFVS) - The 11th Annual Family Fun Day will be April 20 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Du Quoin Youth Club.

The free event is for families and children in celebration and recognition of April as Child Abuse Prevention Month. It will include activities, food and door prizes.

The Du Quoin Youth Club is located at 2 East North Street, Du Quoin, Ill.

The 5KFVS Run/Walk will be May 18 in downtown Cape Girardeau, Mo.

This year, to celebrate the 5th year, we're adding a 12K!

Women vets will find unique information, services at Women Veterans Fair

(KFVS) - The Illinois Department of Veterans’ Affairs is proud to offer the Illinois Women Veterans Fair, on Saturday, April 13.

This event will be held at the Southwestern Illinois College Liberal Arts Complex Conference Center, 2500 Carlyle Ave., Belleville, Ill. The event includes a complimentary light breakfast social, remarks from SWIC President Georgia Costello, Ph.D., IDVA Director Erica Borggren, herself a US Army veteran, and Maj. Gen. Barbara Faulkenberry, Vice-Commander, 18th Air Force, Scott Air Force Base.

Following the remarks, there will be panel discussions geared to help women veterans “own” their military experience, to transition more smoothly into civilian life, and to understand and better deal with Military Sexual Trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder related to their military service.

Pinckneyville Clean Up Day April 13

PINCKNEYVILLE, IL (KFVS) - The Pinckneyville Clean Up Day will be April 13 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.

The Pinckneyville Chamber of Commerce says you can tidy up your home and property during the Clean Up Day. Bring your scrap metal, electronics, old furniture, etc. to the Higman Building (formerly TUMS) east of town.

The event is free to citizens living within the city limits.
