Free babysitting course scheduled for Aug. 11 | Events

PINCKNEYVILLE, IL (KFVS) - A free BLAST babysitting course has been scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 11.

The babysitter lessons and safety training course will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Pinckneyville Community Hospital Basement classroom. You can pre-register by Aug. 7 by picking up forms at the Pinckneyville Police Department.

The BLAST program provides training in the business or babysitting, child development, carseat safety, pediatric first aid, household safety and the fundamentals of childcare. Some features of the program include:

• Most current practices for safety and injury prevention while babysitting
• Fist Aid basics for emergency response
• Quick reference tools for babysitter
• Fun and easy to follow booklet

The program is designed for people ages 13 and older, their parents and parents looking to hire a babysitter, the BLAST! program can prepare children to interview for a babysitting job, select safe and suitable games and activities, prevent accidents, perform first aid and begin babysitting safely and competently.
