PINCKNEYVILLE, IL (KFVS) - The second annual “Pocket Full of Love” Run/Walk/Fun Run was held at the Du Quoin State Fairgrounds last weekend and brought in more than $5800.
According to a news release, the money goes into a fund set up by Elkville Christian Church to help local families in distress due to sudden emergencies.
Event organizer Kim Buser says the turnout of walkers and runners was stunning. There were around 150 participants.
“We had wonderful help from so many people, sponsors, donations, entry fees, and a silent auction in addition to volunteers who helped with the event”, said Buser. “God was in the driver’s seat and we are truly blessed”.
Among those who will benefit is a family of five who lost their father and life partner in a sudden and tragic vehicle crash. There was a moment of silence in his honor during the awards presentation.
