Car Craft Street Machine Nationals returning to DuQuoin

DUQUOIN, IL (KFVS) - The Car Craft Street Machine Nationals will return to the DuQuoin State Fairgrounds June 28-30, 2013.

Organizers say the Street Machine Nationals called the DuQuoin State Fairgrounds home for 13 years, ending its run in 1998. This event was legendary for its hardcore horsepower, cool classics and plenty of big block engines. This national celebration of horsepower and dream machines will showcase the same as the grounds will swell with beautiful, high-performance street machines, hot rods and street trucks from across the nation.

11th Annual Family Fun Day April 20 in Pinckneyville

PINCKNEYVILLE, IL (KFVS) - The 11th Annual Family Fun Day will be April 20 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Du Quoin Youth Club.

The free event is for families and children in celebration and recognition of April as Child Abuse Prevention Month. It will include activities, food and door prizes.

The Du Quoin Youth Club is located at 2 East North Street, Du Quoin, Ill.

The 5KFVS Run/Walk will be May 18 in downtown Cape Girardeau, Mo.

This year, to celebrate the 5th year, we're adding a 12K!

Have you ran the 5KFVS, or even ran all five years? We want to see your photos from past events!

Pinckneyville Clean Up Day April 13

PINCKNEYVILLE, IL (KFVS) - The Pinckneyville Clean Up Day will be April 13 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.

The Pinckneyville Chamber of Commerce says you can tidy up your home and property during the Clean Up Day. Bring your scrap metal, electronics, old furniture, etc. to the Higman Building (formerly TUMS) east of town.

The event is free to citizens living within the city limits.

$Perry Co. Farm Bureau to host informational meeting on 'fracking'$

PINCKNEYVILLE, IL (KFVS) - The Perry County Farm Bureau will hold an informational meeting on hydraulic fracturing (“fracking”) at 1:30 pm on Tuesday, April 23 at St. Paul’s UCC in Pinckneyville.

General information about the processes involved with “fracking”, as well as information on leasing farmland for oil and gas production, will be reviewed by Illinois Farm Bureau’s Assistant General Counsel, Laura Harmon. Other presenters will include Educators from the University of Illinois Extension.

This educational workshop has been developed to help landowners better understand oil and gas leases and will provide an opportunity for written questions. This program is for educational purposes only. No part of this presentation is considered legal advice.

There is no charge to participate in the meeting, but pre-registration is required by Friday, April 19 at 618-357-9355.

Community Easter Choir event March 27 in Pinckneyville

PINCKNEYVILLE, IL (KFVS) - The First Baptist Church will host a Community Easter Choir on Wednesday, March 27 at 7 p.m.

The following churches will be participating:

First Baptist Church
New Hope
Roes Dale Baptist Church
St. Bruno Catholic Church
St. Paul's United Church of Christ
Trinity Assembly
Trinity Lutheran Church
United Methodist

This year's concert will be a worship musical celebrating God's love, "Great I Am." It is arranged and orchestrated by David T. Clydesdale. The musical will include solos, narration and congregational singing. Different styles of worship music will be incorporated.

The First Baptist Church is located at 105 Mill Street in Pinckneyville.
