Easter Bunny pictures from the Heartland 2012

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) - It's springtime and Easter is just around the corner!

We want to see you family pictures with the Easter Bunny.

You can e-mail pictures to cNews@kfvs12.com or click here to upload them. Don't forget to include your name, the name of the child and where you're from. Please get prior approval from the parents or guardians if submitting a picture of a child or children that is not your own.

Pictures will be used in a slideshow online and possibly on-air.

Lane reduction on I-57, expect major delays

JEFFERSON COUNTY, IL (KFVS) - Construction on Interstate 57 could slow travelers down.

According to the Illinois Department of Transportation, crews will be working in the northbound lanes from mile marker 93 to mile marker 96 in Jefferson county. The work will start on March 29th.

A spokesperson for the department says crews will reduce northbound traffic down to one lane as crews work to reconstruct the road and add an additional lane.

That lane reduction will be in place until November 1, 2012. The northbound entrance and exit ramps at Veterans Drive will be closed. Drivers can still use the northbound entrance and exit at Illinois Route 15.

Motorists should expect major delays, according to the department.

UCH to hold Healthy Woman event in March

UNION COUNTY, IL (KFVS) - Union County Hospital will hold their Healthy Woman Anniversary Event on March 29.

The event will be at Von Jakob's Vineyard just north of Alto Pass. They will host a women's expo at 5 p.m. followed by a dinner and keynote speaker at 6:30 p.m.

The keynote speaker this year is Eliz Greene. She suffered a massive heart attack while pregnant with twins and now speaks across the nation about health and wellness while entertaining with her wit and humor. Greene is a national spokesperson for the American Hearth Association. You can click here to look at her website.

Cover photo competition for the County News Facebook pages

Cover photo competition for the County News Facebook pages

Facebook has announced that starting March 30 all Facebook Pages will automatically be updated to the new Timeline feature.

With Facebook Timeline, pages can now have a "cover photo" at the top of the page. We decided to have a little fun with our County News Facebook pages, and hold seasonal competitions for viewers' photos to become our "cover photos."

Here's how it works:

Starting Monday, March 12 you can submit a photo that you think best represents spring in your county. You can e-mail the photo to cNews@kfvs12.com or click here to upload them. With the photo, make sure to include your name, what county it represents and where in that county the picture was taken.

On Wednesday, March 21 we will put all of the photos into a slideshow for each county and viewers can then vote for which photo they want to see as that county's Facebook cover photo.

All Boy Scouts invited to belt loop clinic in Murphysboro

JACKSON COUNTY, IL (KFVS) - The Kaskaskia District of the Boy Scouts of America will have a belt loop clinic on March 10 in Murphysboro.

The clinic will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the McEvlain School, 953 Ava Road, Murphyspboro.

The district says all Cub Scouts are invited to join as they offer a day of Cub Scout belt loop advancement opportunity. Cub Scouts of all ranks will get the chance to learn new skills, have fun and earn some belt loops. They can work on requirements to earn up to three belt loops and possibly pins and the day will be broken into four sessions.

There will be a lunch period, which the district says is included in the $3.50 cost of the day.
