Car Craft Street Machine Nationals returning to DuQuoin | Community Spirit

DUQUOIN, IL (KFVS) - The Car Craft Street Machine Nationals will return to the DuQuoin State Fairgrounds June 28-30, 2013.

Organizers say the Street Machine Nationals called the DuQuoin State Fairgrounds home for 13 years, ending its run in 1998. This event was legendary for its hardcore horsepower, cool classics and plenty of big block engines. This national celebration of horsepower and dream machines will showcase the same as the grounds will swell with beautiful, high-performance street machines, hot rods and street trucks from across the nation. 

“This event has a great history as being one of the first significant car shows and a major part of the Pro Street movement” said, Douglas Glad, Editor for Car Craft Magazine. “DuQuoin transformed into the Motorhead Mecca each year and filled the hotels, businesses and countryside with automotive enthusiasts from all over the nation.” Douglas added, “We’re proud to be a part of restoring this event with renewed focus on the cars, enthusiasts and manufacturers that make the industry great.” 

“We are excited for our sponsors, enthusiasts and DuQuoin as they have shown a spirited interest.” said, Mike Moore, President of Family Events. “We have met with key people and even monitored social chatter and all signs show it is time…there’s even a Bring The Street Machine Nationals Back to DuQuoin Facebook page out here.”  Mike added, “Now they are able to back up that interest and take part in the event.”      

In addition to the cars, spectators and participants can witness the tuned-up Performance Marketplace for the latest aftermarket parts, burnout challenge, dyno challenge, meet the editors of Car Craft, take in the Miss Street Machine contest and more. There will be 40+ pro judged awards given including Car Craft Editor’s Choice.   

For those who want to register their cars you can do so now via www.StreetMachineNationals.net or by calling Family Events at 317-236-6515. There is a nominal fee of $35 that includes an event goody bag, free judging, plus weekend admission for the vehicle, driver, one passenger, and any children 15 and under riding in the vehicle. Pre-registration runs up until Friday, June 21.  .
