Free forum on co-insurance

Free forum on co-insurance

HERRIN, IL (KFVS) – State Representative John Bradley and the Arthritis Foundation will host a community forum to discuss the rising co-insurance costs for some specialty medications.

There are several “tiers” for prescription drugs. They’re often labled “generic,” “preferred,” and “non-preferred.” The prescription drug usually has a predetermined cost associated with the tier it falls under. Now, several health plans have instituted a fourth tier or the “specialty tier.”

According to a release from John Bradley, many health plans require the patient to pay a percentage of the cost of the most expensive medications that fall under the “specialty tier.”

A forum called “Navigating the Health System & Managing Your Co-Insurance” will focus on navigating the health system to maintain access to medications that patients need.

ISP cautions drivers to slow down, watch for farm equipment

Illinois State Police are reminding drivers to use caution this time of year while traveling on Ill. rural roadways.

As farmers move equipment from field to field, they will be usually traveling at speeds of 25 miles-per-hour or less.

Drivers should be aware of farm vehicles and prepared to slow down when encountering them.

Here are some safety tips to consider when encountering agricultural equipment on the roadway:

-Farm equipment which travels at speeds of 25 mph or less is required to have a slow moving vehicle emblem (bright orange triangle) mounted to the rear of the vehicle.

-If traffic begins to back up behind the farm equipment, the operator should pull over in a safe location and allow traffic to pass.

-Farmers should avoid movements of farm equipment at sunrise and sunset as visibility is more limited during these times.

To be eligible for the solid waste enforcement grant, local governments have to go into delegation agreements with the Illinois EPA, in which they agree to hire and train landfill inspectors under the state's certification requirements.

“Local government officials are more familiar with their communities, and can respond to complaints in a timely manner,” said Bonnett.  “This partnership benefits the public and the Agency.”
